about
The leading single of the upcoming EP 'Persistent Soul'
New music has finally arrived after a long wait! We're excited to unveil the first taste of all the past year and a half's hard work that the band has put into this release.
Produced, Engineered, Mixed & Mastered at Singular Path Audio & Music Production.
Musically it's a swift and punchy number, but with some catchy melodies and strong rhythms that most Metal fans will enjoy. While Charonyx considers themselves Progressive Metal with strong Thrash and Death Metal leanings, on this track in particular, they tend to go for a more straightforward but adventurous approach with the arrangement, which is what they've been known for on previous works while putting a little more emphasis on bringing in some more modern influences.
Lyrically the song takes aim at the system, but more specifically in regards to the American Dream, and the idea of how the preconceived notion of the path to success, has lots of internal flaws that lead to dire consequences only the ones convinced of being put on the path will have to face, and not the ones who created the path in the first place. Written and composed by the band's primary songwriter and lyricist Max Barber, he took inspiration for the lyrics based upon his own personal experiences in addition to the ones of others that have been witnessed, and his developed disdain for how the educational system preys upon the youth by intentionally providing misinformation, misguidance, and suggestions filed with empty promises. They often do so in order to build their empire of profit purely off the guarantee that they, along with their families, will not know any better. Once they're slapped with a tremendous debt and with credentials that mean nothing, it'll be far too late.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Systems once thrived in the past
Now seem prehistoric today
Structures built for Ancient Times
Given merit for standards per se
Advances taken far too fast
Without much or nothing to say
Demise comes with cryptic signs
Obvious once far too late
Chorus:
Running the well dry
From sources long since refrained
A call to the void
Silence sustained
A house that was built
But formed from clay
And now with the rain
This structure is bound to decay
Bridge/Breakdown:
Burning the currency
For matters uncertain
Their propaganda feeds
Off false hopes & identities
Verse 2:
Boycott sources of infection
Strickening the institutions
Preaching a way of life that they
Don’t pay into themselves
Funneling the waste, they lay
Consuming all within their cells
Revolution’s inception
Begins with devastation
Chorus:
Running the well dry
From sources long since refrained
A call to the void
Silence sustained
A house that was built
But formed from clay
And now with the rain
This structure is bound to decay

Founded in June 2014. Charonyx is a Progressive Thrash Metal band with a new EP
‘Persistent Soul’ and some new music already on the horizon for 2024 and beyond!
This album is like if Queensryche, Mastodon, Judas Priest, and Voivod had an orgy together and created this bastard child of progressive heavy metal. The covers they have on here are also excellent. Charonyx
Super impressive Melodic Black Metal hailing from Louisville, Kentucky. For a debut album, this one is really well crafted and the guitar layering is next level. An extreme record with hooks for days Charonyx
Dark Melodic Doom Inspired Heavy Metal featuring shredding (A unique contrast) and vocals that really shine. Not to mention that album cover is something else. Expertly crafted on multiple levels. Charonyx
supported by 6 fans who also own “Structure Of Demise”
I've gotten myself into GR by first getting their last album, then decided to give this one a go too. Atoms divide, life decays, seems we are into nuclear explosions here, that is how GR feels, a powerful and fast blitz and stormy riffs and groovy hardcorish - thrashy blasts. Highly recommended for all thrash lovers out there. Toxic Holocaust does come in mind, true that, Wraith, Municipal Waste fans should love this ! sachavonkarl74
